Any problems with this plan?

I'm planning on getting my ears pierced in the morning, and have something I want. I know that I need to get a set of starter studs or something to get the hole going. I'm planning on putting in a set of 16 or 18 gauge circular barbels or a captive hoop. I know these are usually eye brow piercings or other ones as well. Would these be okay for an ear? I just want a certain look and those fulfill the requirements.
